Lakewood United Methodist Church offers an attractive worship space for holding your wedding.  The sanctuary has a center isle which is ideal for processionals and recessionals, and it seats approximately 200 people between the main floor and the balcony.

Arranging Your Wedding

  1. Before scheduling a reception hall or anything else, contact the pastor and the church office to confirm availability of the pastor and the church and to reserve the date.  [Please note the pastor of the church normally conducts the wedding.  Guest pastors are at the discretion and invitation of the pastor without exception.]
  2. The church's organist will provide accompanying music for your wedding.  Other musicians and all soloists and music must be approved by the pastor and music director.  If you wish to use an organist other than Lakewood's staff organist, the pastor and music director must approve, AND the fee for the staff organist still must be paid, regardless of payment arrangements for the guest musician.
  3. Decorations in addition to those provided by the church, along with floral arrangements, may be used with the pastor's permission.
  4. An isle runner may be used if desired at an additional charge.
  5. Bulletins are not necessary, but if desired, the church can produce them.  Arrangements may be made through the church office.
  6. Photographers and videographers must adhere to the pastor's directions, including but not limited to the following:

  • No flash pictures during the service itself (from the time the pastor begins speaking to the beginning of the recessional).
  • No movement in the pulpit/chancel area after the service has begun, though movement on the main floor is permissible within reason.
  • Video equipment may be placed in a fixed and unobtrusive position in the chancel area with the approval of the pastor only (no movement will be permitted under any circumstances).
  • No furniture may be moved without the permission of the pastor.

Fees for Your Wedding

Members of Lakewood:                      $350
Non-members:                $450

(These fees include all staff payments.)

A $225 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your wedding date, and the balance of the wedding fee must be paid ten days before the service.

Please note: The pastor requires every couple to satisfactorily complete premarital counseling before holding the wedding.
